Leuchten KG company was founded in 1895 by Christian Dell, a silversmith and industrial designer, who headed the metalwork department at the Weimar Bauhaus for several years. He designed a large range of lights (more than 500 models) with the idea to create interchangeable and strandardized parts of lamps. The Idell lamps (combination of ‘Dell’ and ‘Idea’) are viewed to this day as a design classic — a timeless ideal with a simple and clean avant-garde design, noble materials and an essential functionality.
