Description

Kaiser Idell 6614 big old scissor lamp.

The Kaiser & Co. Leuchten KG company was founded in 1895 by Christian Dell, a silversmith and industrial designer, who headed the metalwork department at the Weimar Bauhaus for several years. He designed a large range of lights (more than 500 models) with the idea to create interchangeable and strandardized parts of lamps. The Idell lamps (combination of ‘Dell’ and ‘Idea’) are viewed to this day as a design classic — a timeless ideal with a simple and clean avant-garde design, noble materials and an essential functionality.

After the thorough dismantling cleaning of all elements, the lamp was polished painted and rebuilt again.

The lamp has signs of wear consistent with its age and use.
It has a noteworthy patina.
The shade has a small dent.
The lamp is engraved with Original Jdell on the shade.

The mechanical system of the lamp functions fine.
The lampshade can be smoothly moved horizontally thanks to a ball joint.
The scissor system can be moved vertically thanks to a wing screw.

The electrical equipment was renewed and refurbished with a three-wire system and a black cloth coated cord was used.
The light is operated by a rotary switch located on the bakelite lamp socket.

The lamp can be easily attached to the wall with the wall-mount bracket and screws.
